A lot of people, including me, have trouble configuring Joomla FTP. It’s not that hard, but it’s very specific. See our new article on configuring Joomla 1.5 FTP.

Joomla 1.5 has had 14 Security Updates since it started, and a new one is on the way. Applying a new update is pretty easy: Just upload the update to your webserver. But uploading is easier said than done. The 1.5.14 update contains over 1,400 files. It can take a LONG time to upload that many files; plus there’s a good chance that you will get a transfer error with that many files. Read on to learn the easy way. (more…)

Joomla 1.5 includes a Flash file uploader that makes it easy to upload a lot of image files at once. Unfortunately, if you keep your browser updated, then you probably have the Flash 10 plugin, and this plugin will prevent the Joomla Flash Uploader from working. Read on to find out how to fix it. I recently built a website for a friend, Georgeanne Hoffman. It was an interesting collaboration. Her nephew drew all of the cartoons for the book, one of her friends created the design layout using the book graphics, and I converted the design into a website. Having been burned by upgrading software immediately after it’s released, I waited until yesterday to upgrade to Mac OS X Leopard 1.5.8. I am using a 2008 Macbook and was running Leopard 1.5.7, and the upgrade was flawless. After a long download of 1.5.8 upgrade, plus iTunes and several other upgrades, the upgrade installed and after about 20 minutes and several automatic reboots, my Macbook started up and all is good.
