Joomla Extension Review: 2J News Slider
The 2J News Slider is a great, commercial Joomla News component that creates a slideshow from your articles. If you want an automatic slideshow that shows the article intro and thumbnail for articles in a section or category, this is the tool.
This Joomla News Slider cost $30, but it’s well worth it. 2J News Slider is easy to set up and configure. Just publish the module to a position and point it at a section or category. If you want, the look and feel can be adjusted using the CSS style sheet.
Features:
- random article selection
- configurable article rotation: ordering, creation date, hits, or votes
- show article titles only
- several transition / fade effects to choose from
If you want to add some zing to your home page, this is a great Joomla News component.
Mac: Use Spotlight to Launch Apps
Are you a person who prefers to use the keyboard instead of the mouse. Spotlight, on Max OS X, makes a great application launcher. You can use Spotlight to launch any application right from your keyboard, and you don’t have to remember any commands.
To use Spolight to launch an application:
- Push Command (?) + Spacebar to activate Spotlight.
- Begin typing the name of the application you want to launch; for example, “Dr” for DreamWeaver. Spotlight will list items that begin with those letters.

- Use the Up or Down arrow key to make your selection.
- Once the application is selected, push the Return key. Mac launches the application.
- That’s it.
The beauty of this method is that it works no matter where you are. You can be in any application and lauch another applicaiton.
