Problem: I have a Joomla website that uses AllVideosReloaded (AVR) to display YouTube Videos. Works fine in all browsers except Internet Explorer. In Internet Explorer, you can’t see the videos.
Solution: I use the Joomla plugin JCH_Optimize to speed up the loading of the website. Unfortunately, the compression of the AVR javascripts prevents the video from displaying in Internet Explorer. This is the fault of Internet Explorer. To fix the problem, I configured JCH_Optimize to NOT compress the following AVR scripts:
- silverlight.js
- wmvplayer.js
- swfobject.js
- avreloaded.js
A client asked me to install a module that would show X number of his Tweets on his Joomla site. After trying several Joomla Twitter modules and finding all were lacking in some way, I decided to go straight to the source: Twitter Widgets. Within 5 minutes, I had my perfect Twitter module.
Joomla 1.6 was released in the dead of winter and now it’s almost summer. Is it time to upgrade to Joomla 1.6? Not quite, unless you are willing to use Joomla without some MAJOR Joomla extensions. As of 06-01-2011, the following Joomla extensions have no stable release for Joomla 1.6. You can decide for yourself if you can live without these extensions. I know I can’t:
JCE Content Editor for Joomla just released a maintenance update, Version 1.5.7.12. This is a maintenance release to fix a few issues: spell checker and preview. Also, TinyMCE was updated to 3.4.2.
