SITUATION: I have a web client that wanted a “recommend to friend” form on their Joomla site. Normally, this can easily be handled by Joomla’s built-in “mail-this-page plugin. However, my client had one special need: they wanted to be notified each time someone recommended their site so they could send the person recommending the site AND the friend a discount coupon for their products.

I scoured the Joomla extensions directory looking for a “Recommend a Friend” component that had a setting for sending an email with the contents of the “Recommend a Friend” form to the Joomla administrator.  The only one I found that had email-to-adminstrator function was D-Mack Recommend Friends component.

The D-Mail Recommend Friends component is an excellent Joomla component for several reasons:

• The component is free (but I recommend that you make a donation to the developer for this excellent component)
• Easy to install
• Easy to configure: All form colors, field colors, field sizes, and language can be configured using the component’s administration screen. No messy editing  of config files or css files.
• A Captcha Option: In order to reduce spam, you can turn on a Captcha function that forces the user to verify their entry by entering the Captcha text

I highly recommend this Joomla component!
