Joomla Content Image Gallery: Simple Image GalleryI needed a Joomla Image Gallery that can display image galleries within an article.

The following are my requirements for the content image gallery for Joomla articles:

  • Need the ability to display multple images in a gallery format within a Joomla article
  • Need AJAX popup functionality; eg, when the user clicks on the image, they get an AJAX popup that displays OVER the existing page
  • Need the ability to navigate in the gallery once the popup is open
  • The image gallery needs to be easy to use for non-techinical users
  • It would be nice if the gallery were free

Simple Image Gallery, from JoomlaWorks, is a perfect match for my requirements. And it’s FREE! (JoomlaWorks also offers a Pro version of this software for 12 Euros). This plugin is simple, powerful, and come with great instructions.

The setup is quite simple.

  • Install and activate the plugin
  • Configure the plugin; eg, you can specify thumbnail width / height
  • Insert the plugin code in any article
  • Add the gallery images to the folder specified in the plugin code

JoomlaWorks is an awesome Joomla development company. They make several GREAT free modules and plugins, and they also make several great commercial components, modules, and plugins. And they have great service.
