I just installed Joomlaworks Tabs and Slides in Content plugiin for Joomla 1.5. This plugin is perfect: free, simple to install, and easy to implement.

What does it do? You’ve probably seen web pages that have tabs that hold different content. Often, these tabs are links to other pages. But with AJAX, you can create tabs of content that are all on the same page and loaded when the page loads. When a user clicks a tab, the tab’s content displays instantly because the page doesn’t have to reload. What’s more, this method of showing and hiding content is very search engine friendly. The content is totally visible to Google and other search engines.

The slide, or accordion effect, expands vertically when you click on an item in the accordion (see image below). The accordion affect is very nice for a list of FAQs. By having all the FAQs collapsed to just the question, the user can see many more FAQs in a screen without having to scroll.

Of course, you can easily create these affects in Dreamweaver, but it’s very difficult to do in Joomla. JoomlaWorks provides a great solution for adding AJAX tab or slides to your Joomla content. If you have used any of the free or commercial Joomla extensions by Joomla works, definitely give them a try. They are VERY cool and professional and JoomlaWorks offers great support.
