A couple of months ago, one of my clients started missing important emails from the Contact Form 7 forms on his site. While we worked out how to fix the email problem, I installed the Contact Form DB Plugin. The Contact Form DB Plugin saves all Contact 7 Form Submissions in a unique table in the WordPress database. (The plugin also works with JetPack Contact Form, Fast Secure Contact Form, and Gravity Forms) With the Contact Form DB plugin, you’ll never miss a form submission again due to email or server problems. I highly recommend it. [Read more...]
I just finished upgrading a Joomla 1.5 site to Joomla 2.5. The upgrade included migrating Mosets Tree. After spending countless hours trying to upgrade a Joomla 1.5 / Sobi2 site to Joomla 2.5 / SobiPro, I was releaved that the migration process for Mosets Tree was well documented and straightforward. For years I’ve heard about RSForm!Pro. Everyone said it was great and easy to use. But I kept using Chronoforms, the free form tool for Joomla. Chronoforms is pretty great, but it is not easy for my clients to use. Also, when you use Chronoforms Wizard to create forms with 50 or 100 fields, it becomes almost impossible to work with.
When a client asked me to build a form with over 60 fields, I decided to buy a copy of RSForm!Pro to build the form. It was very easy it was to build a large form. What’s more, I think it would be pretty easy for my clients to build complex forms too.
What Make RSForm!Pro Good
- Every type of field is easy to add
- Easy Captcha
- Drag and Drop fields to change order. This worked flawlessly.
- Easy to use Date Picker.
- Responsive form template.
If you are building forms on Joomla, I highly recommend RSForm!Pro. At $25, it’s a good deal. Available for Joomla 1.5, 2.5, and 3.0.
I just finished installing Joomla 3.0.3 in MAMP. Initially, I couldn’t get past the environment check: Joomla 3.0 requires PHP 5.3 or higher and PHP must have Magic Quotes GPC Off. Without the correct PHP version and PHP settings, you cannot proceed with the installation.
Note: If you plan to transfer the Joomla 3.0 MAMP site to a web host, you will need the ability to modify your hosting environment to specify PHP 5.3 or higher and the ability to turn off Magic Quotes GPC. If your host does not allow this, then you won’t be able to use Joomla 3.0. [Read more...]
If you have any Joomla Super Administrator accounts in Joomla that you don’t use or want, you should delete them for security reasons. However, if you have ever tried to delete a Joomla Super Administrator, you will find out that you can’t. You must first change the account group to any group other than Super User. [Read more...]
Starting in Joomla 2.5, there is a function that makes is easy to copy or duplicate a template. For example, say you want to use the default Beez5 template, but you need to modify it. If you make modifications directly to the default Beez template, your modifications will be overwritten every time you upgrade Joomla. To overcome this problem, use the Copy Template function. Both hacked sites were displaying Google’s Malicious Content warning. Needless to say, the Google Malicious Content warning will kill your website traffic and possibly get your site completely blocked and blacklisted.
If you get the Google malicious content warning on your site, you can use Sucuri’s free website scanner to determine if your site has actually been hacked. If the scan reveals that your site is compromised or blacklisted, I recommend buying a Sucuri website monitoring package that fits your need. [Read more...]
