Kudos to Adobe: They Allow You to Switch Platforms
About six months ago, I bought the Adobe CS3 Web Premium software, which includes Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks. A very nice upgrade (I already owned old versions of several of these products) Unfortunately, this upgraded software ran very slow on my computer. This was not the fault of the software; the slowness was due to my computer being 6 years old and the new, improved software was just too much for the old machine.
I decided to buy a new computer to fix the slowness problem. In addition, I decided to switch platforms. Which platform I switched to is NOT important. Mac to Windows. Windows to Mac. The important thing is I’d just bought a $1200 suite of software from Adobe and now I wanted to use it on another platform. I decided to call Adobe to see what they could do for me, but I fully expected them to say that I needed to buy the suite again for the new platform.
To my surprise, Adobe was more than willing to let me switch platforms as long as I signed a software destruction agreement that says I agreed to destroy the software for the original platform. In addition, they required that I pay $5.95 for them to ship the new software to me. Of course I agreed to both conditions and now I have the Adobe CS3 Web Premium Suite Software on a new computer, on a new platform.
Thank You Adobe!
