Joomla allows you to restrict access to individual menu items. For example, if you have one item on your menu that you want to restrict to registered users, you can easily do this. Once you restrict the access level, say, to Registered users, the user will have to log in before they can access the link's content.

  1. From the Joomla admin menu, select Menu > Menu Name where Menu Name is the menu containing the item you want to restrict.

  2. Click the menu item you want to restrict.

  3. In the Access Level list, select an access level.
  4. Select Registered to restrict the Joomla menu item Registered Users
    Select Special to restrict the Joomla menu item to all User Groups except Guest and Registered; in other words, to all Joomla Administrator Groups - Editor, Publisher, Manager, Administrator.
  5. Click Save and then test the link to make sure the access restriction is correct.
