How to Move a Joomla Website Using Akeeba Backup
This procedure requires that you install the Akeeba backup. If you have trouble with this method, you can use the manual method to backup and move your site (Coming Soon).
- Download and Install Akeeba backup.Note: When you install Akeeba, it will run the Akeeba Configuration script. This script tests your server settings and optimizes Akeeba to run on your server.

Joomla 1.5: If you are using Joomla 1.5, you can download Akeeba 3.4.3, which works in Joomla 1.5.

Joomla 1.0: If you are using Joomla 1.0, you can use JoomlaPack 1.2.3. JoomlaPack is the predecessor to Akeeba.

- From the Joomla Admin screen, go to Components > Akeeba Backup.
The Akeeba dashboard is displayed. - Click Configuration.
- From the Archiver engine list, select ZIP and then click Save & Close.

The Backup Now screen is displayed. - Click Backup Now!. Akeeba will create a backup zip file that contains all your Joomla files and the Joomla database.Note: This zip file also contains an install script that will help you install Joomla once you upload and unzip the backup zip file in the public_html folder on your web server.
The backup progress screen is displayed. Do not leave this screen until the backup is complete. The backup can take from 2-15 minutes, depending on your server speed and the size of your site.
- Once the backup is finished, you should see the Backup Success screen.
