Add Google Translate to Joomla or WordPress

November 5, 2012 by Pat Fortino

It’s so easily to add Google Translate to your WordPress or Joomla website, there’s no need to install another plugin. Seriously, this will take about 5 minutes.

  1. Go to the following URL: https://translate.google.com/manager/website/  and click Add to your website now.
  2. Login with your Google username and password. Google displays the Website Info screen.
Note: If you don’t already have a Google account, click Sign Up.

  3. In the Website URL field, enter your website URL.
  4. From the Website Language field, select your default language.
  5. Click Next.
Google displays the Plugin Settings screen.

I’m not able to get to either or to insert the meta code. Is there another way to do this or are there more specific step-by-step instructions on how to get there for a noobie?

because you are on wordpress.com, you cannot install any plugins unless they are approved by them. Here is a list of the plugins you can install: http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/. Google translate is not one of them. Best to move your site to your own hosting and then you can do whatever you want.

We are working on Joomla 3. Our problem is when we paste the Google plugin code in a HTML module, only the first line is saved, we don’t know why. We tried to deactivate the JCE editor but is the same.

Go to Global Configuration > Text Filters and make sure Super Admin has a setting of “No Filtering”

I’ve checked it and it’s ok. Super Admin and Admin have “no filtering”.

You should also check all JCE settings to make sure JCE is not stripping out code. I have had no issues inserting google code to the JCE text editor.

I’ve checked them and I think they are correct. But I think the problem is another thing. I tried to work with another editor and without one, and the problem was allways the same. I don’t know if it is a problem of the Joomla version.
            Thanks for all.
