How to View Module Positions in a Joomla Template

October 28, 2010 by Pat Fortino

Often, it is helpful to see the Joomla template module positions. For example, you might need to find out which modules are displayed above your header so you can turn them off.

There are two easy methods to view the Joomla template modules positions on your page.

Method 1

Enter your domain name followed by index.php?tp=1

For example, http://mydomain.com/index.php?tp=1

Joomla displays all the module positions on the page.

NOTE: If you are using Joomla 1.6, ?tp=1 won’t work until you turn on the Preview Template Positions option. Go to Extensions > Template Manager > Options and enable Preview Template Positions.
