Joomla User: How to Change Your Password

April 28, 2010 by Pat Fortino

It’s a good idea to change your Joomla password often, and since it’s so easy, there’s no excuse :)

In addition, you can use this procedure to change ANY user’s password if you are a Super Administrator.

Note: You must be logged into the Joomla Administration to perform this procedure. Also note that you cannot recover a lost password: You can only reset the password.

  1. From the Joomla Admin menu, select Site > User Manager.
Joomla displays the User Manager screen.
  2. Click on the name of the user whose password you want to change.
    Joomla displays the Userscreen.Picture_2User Screen
  3. Enter a new password in the New Password field.
  4. Enter the new password again in the Verify Password field.
  5. Click Save.
