How to Use Joomla 2.5 Contact Form Captcha

February 17, 2012 by Pat Fortino

  • Click on the Contact link in your menu. You should see the Captcha – Recaptcha security images just above the Submit button on the contact form.

  • To add Captcha to the Joomla registration form, password recovery form, and username recovery form, go to Users > User Manager > OptionsAdd Captcha to Joomla Registration
  • From the Captcha list, select Use Default and click Save.
Since you already configured captcha in the Joomla Global Configurations, you can use the default.

I have never tried that but I assumed it you turned on captcha for Joomla, the captcha would appear on all forms.

Unfortunately Captcha has been negated by spammers. We need to have the Contacts form in “Public”, but it seems the bots are winning.
